[Steve visibly relaxes. He should probably be thankful for this guy instead of feeling...what he just felt.
He puts his shield down before he takes a better look around the room.]
It's a nice room. A little more silk than I'm used to. [Steve blinks at a pair of delicate red women's panties over the back of a chair.] And lace. Are those yours?
[He smiles back at him. At least he's less embarrassed around Bucky than he would be around most people.]
I bet they look good on you.

Why would I wear those?
[He's really honestly curious, not at all embarrassed or offended.]
no subject
[Apparently. Bucky doesn't look amused, but he doesn't look angry either. The question confuses Steve at first, but it is food for thought.]
They're normally a lady's thing. But there's nothing that says a man couldn't, if he wanted to - which I'm not saying that you do.
[Now he feels a little bit embarrassed, but he's not sure why.]
I'm not saying that you don't, either. You could. If you wanted. And they'd look good on you, that's all - you can take the right side of the bed, okay Buck?

Alright.

Can I tell you a story?

Once he gets comfortable he stills, his breath as steady as ever, his heart calm now that the harps have gone quiet again.]
Yes.

I had trouble sleeping during the war. I guess a lot of guys did - they were far from home, the cots were flat and uncomfortable. Plus it was war. You closed your eyes, you never really knew if you'd wake up to a rifle in your face or the sound of bombs dropping.
[He wouldn't call them fond memories, but Steve talks about the war with a certain sort of nostalgia, the kind of tone he's overheard old men in the park using.]
One night you just came into my tent, shoved yourself onto my cot, and wrapped yourself around me. [Steve huffs softly.] No way there was enough room for both of us. The cot make these little creaking sounds, like it was about to break at any second. Plus you were like a furnace. I broke into a cold sweat halfway through the night, but you kept wrapping the blanket back around me in you sleep. I guess old habits die hard.

I've always had trouble sleeping without you.
[It's a quiet confession that he can't really back up with specific, solid memories, but he can feel the truth of it, even if he's always hesitant to trust himself.]

[Steve squeezes him in the semi-circle of his arm, turns his face towards him. For two years Steve had so much on his mind, so much lost to him, he wonders if he got a single good night's sleep. But now the most important piece has been returned to them both.]
You don't have to sleep alone anymore. I don't want you to.
no subject
Good.
[He... never slept much with Hydra. Not naturally, anyway. They either put him in cryo or drugged him to sleep however long they wanted him to sleep. Otherwise he only ever slept a couple hours at most on his own. But here, with Steve, he feels himself relaxing more than he has... in as long as he can remember.
...which admittedly isn't long.]
